The Foundation FSSC published the new version of the Scheme, FSSC 22000 Version 7, in May 2026.
All organizations currently certified against FSSC 22000 Version 6 shall upgrade their implemented and documented food safety management systems to meet the new FSSC 22000 Version 7 requirements. Upgrade audits against FSSC 22000 Version 7 shall be conducted during the transition period from 1 May 2027 until 30 April 2028.
Audits against FSSC 22000 Version 6 are only permitted up to 30 April 2027. All FSSC 22000 Version 6 certificates that have not been upgraded to Version 7 will automatically be set to withdrawn in the FSSC Assurance Platform after 30 June 2028 and will no longer be visible in the FSSC 22000 public register.
The upgrade audit is a full audit against the new FSSC 22000 Version 7 requirements. It may be conducted as an announced audit or, where applicable, as an unannounced audit in line with the planned three-year audit programme and the Scheme requirements.
Audit durations for Version 7 audits will be reviewed and recalculated in accordance with the updated FSSC 22000 Version 7 audit duration requirements. Where necessary, the audit duration for the remaining audits in the current three-year certification cycle may be adjusted accordingly.
All FSSC 22000 Version 7 Scheme requirements and guidance documents are available for free download on the website of the Foundation FSSC: https://www.fssc.com/fssc-22000/documents/version-7-documents/.
